Laura Ramsey - Lady Ram
Laura "Lady Ram" Ramsey, the 5'5" super middleweight powerhouse born on November 13, 1969, emerged from Lake Wales, Florida, with an unyielding spirit. Despite early challenges, including becoming a mother at 16, Laura found solace and strength in the boxing ring.
Her athletic journey began at age 6 in YMCA basketball and Little League softball. Overcoming hardships, she excelled in various sports throughout school. After earning a Bachelor’s Degree in Organizational Management and working for renowned companies, Laura discovered her passion for boxing in 1996.Training at Winter Haven Police Athletic League, she faced setbacks but persevered.
In 2001, she formed the Lake Wales Boxing Team, aiming to guide local teens. Laura officially entered the boxing scene in 2002, winning her first amateur bout in 2003 and capturing regional and national championships. Turning professional at 35 on the advice of former champion Bonnie Canino, Laura showcased her skills with a debut victory in 2004.
Despite breaks for personal milestones, she continued to dominate in the super middleweight division, triumphing in international arenas against formidable opponents. Laura "Lady Ram" Ramsey's boxing journey is a testament to resilience, determination, and the transformative power of the sport in shaping a remarkable life. She retired from boxing in 2020 and was inducted into the IWBHF October of 2023.
